Dustin Diamond was never legally married to "wife" Jennifer Misner, according to the star's death certificate.
The Saved By The Bell star, best known for playing Screech in the sitcom, died in February aged 44 after a battle with lung cancer.
His girlfriend Tash Jules was believed to have been by his side when he passed away.
Dustin was believed to have been previously married Jennifer in the 2000s before splitting in 2013 and going on to find love with Tash.
He even wore a wedding band during the relationship with Jennifer, but now TMZ.com reports they were never legally husband and wife.
The website has published Dustin's death certificate which shows his marital status as "never married".
Dustin's friend, Dan Block, told the website the couple never married, but he wore a ring on his left hand to show his dedication to her.
The star's Wikipedia page has wrongly stated he married Jennifer in 2009.
The actor passed away just weeks after being diagnosed with stage 4 small cell carcinoma.
Tash is said to have been the one who convinced Dustin to go to the hospital after he found a lump on his neck but ignored it.
His manager Roger Paul told People : "He was afraid of the public attention if he went into the hospital
"But finally, his girlfriend took him and the doctors confirmed it was cancer.
"Of course he was scared, but he tried to find the humor in it.
"He did chemo - he tried everything possible. But it didn't work.
"Dustin tried to be as positive as he could throughout everything - that's who he was - but he was scared. He didn't want to die."
