He took to social media to express the sadness he felt when filling out the household's census form.

The Dublin man tweeted: "A very lonely census form."

This was something that many others immediately related to as families around the country sit down with the important form.

One person said: "This is very tough. I remember it was Census a few weeks after my daughter died and it hit hard. I can't imagine that multiplied. Kind thoughts to you."

Another wrote: "You may not know us personally, our names are not physically written beside yours, but we are with you Andrew, thousands of us."

A third person commented: "So sorry Andrew.

"But, you’ve virtually shared your lovely home with half the country. So squish up, we are all on your virtual census form."

Andrew previously told Dublin Live that he uses creative projects to keep his children's memories alive.

He said: ""Shortly after the children passed, I began thinking about the last time I held them, the last time I talked to them, the last time I kissed them and I suppose the last promises I made to them that I hadn't got around to keeping

"Conor and Darragh were prolific comic book writers. They had a number of their own unique characters that they wrote about.

"I am hoping to write books based on those characters which will include Conor, Darragh and Carla.

""Carla wanted a snowman. So, in November 2019 there was a flurry of snow and we were able to scrape together a snowman about the size of a pint glass.

"I am looking forward to throwing myself, for the rest of my days, into keeping their memories alive."
