Tragedy as woman dies after 'incident' outside Leeds train station

Detectives have launched an investigation after a woman died outside Leeds railway station in the early hours of today (Sunday).

British Transport Police officers were called to Wellington Street, outside the city's station, at around 1.50am.

Medics also attended but the woman was pronounced dead when she was taken to hospital.

The force is continuing to piece together the events that led to her death and work out the full circumstances.

Det Insp Gary Pinner said: "A full and thorough investigation into the incident is now underway.

"We're appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was in the area around the time before the incident occurred, as well as anyone who has any footage caught on a mobile phone or CCTV camera."
