Tragedy as man, aged 37, falls to his death from tower block

A man has tragically died after falling from the roof of a high-rise block in Linwood
Police sealed off 15-storey Belmar Court after the body of a 37-year-old man was discovered yesterday evening.

Emergency crews raced to the area around 5.45pm but were unable to save him.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is currently being treated as “unexplained” but detectives say there are no suspicious circumstances connected to it.
Officers cordoned off the area around the block, near the Tesco petrol station,  for several hours as they investigated what had happened.

A white tarpaulin was used to cover the man’s body as uniformed cops stood guard, while members of the public were told to keep their distance.
There was a large police presence at the block throughout the evening with specialist forensic cops also attending.
Cops have been out quizzing other residents and other potential witnesses in the block to find out exactly what happened.


They have also been searching for CCTV opportunities around the scene in a bid to shed further light on the incident.
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal following a full investigation.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed today there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and the death is being treated as “unexplained”

She said: “Police Scotland was made aware of the death of a 37-year-old man at Langholm Drive in Linwood shortly after 5.45pm on Thursday.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, although there are no apparent suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
