Tragedy as driver dies after one-vehicle crash on A68 in Northumberland

A driver has died after a one-vehicle crash on the A68 in Northumberland.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the fatal collision, which happened in Barrasford on Thursday afternoon.

The collision, which involved a white Vauxhall Astra car-derived van, happened near the entrance to Barrasford Quarry at around 2.40pm.

Emergency services attended, including the Great North Air Ambulance , but sadly the 47-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Specially-trained officers are currently supporting the man’s family through this difficult time.

"We are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who was in the area and might have dashcam footage to contact officers on either 101 quoting reference number 598 18/04/19, or by emailing 2489@northumbria.pnn.police.uk or 351@northumbria.pnn.police.uk."
