Touching tributes paid to man in 20s as flowers mark scene of crash

Tributes have been paid to a man who died after the car he was travelling in crashed into a wall.

Emergency services rushed to Pilch Lane in Knotty Ash around 4.50am on Sunday, October 10 to reports of a crash.

The car is reported to have crashed at the roundabout with East Prescot Road causing the vehicle to catch fire.

Merseyside Police confirmed a man in his 20s died as a result of his injuries.

A 25-year-old woman from Liverpool was also taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

Pictures show dozens of floral tributes have been left at the scene of the crash.

People have also left heartfelt messages on social media.

Clair Coyle said: "Heartbreaking another young life lost xx hope this young girl makes full recovery and hope she gets all the help and support she will need after this traumatic accident x"

James Welsh said: "So sad and sorry may he rest in heavenly peace xxxx"

Tina Murphy said: "Just tragic...I live close to this roundabout and there are always serious crashes here...rip young man and speedy recovery to the young lady xxx"

Kitty Keating said: "So very sad another young life lost and those other young people too heartbreaking hope all family’s ok."

Merseyside Police is asking anyone who witnessed the collision or with any information is asked to come forward.

Roads Policing Inspector Stuart McIver said: “An investigation is ongoing after a man sadly died following a collision in Knotty Ash yesterday, and we are keen to speak to anyone with information.

“We’d ask that anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on dashcam or other devices and has yet to come forward does so as soon as possible. Your information could be vital to our investigation.

“Whether you come to us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
