Touching clip shows Kate Middleton comforting Prince George after England's defeat

A touching clip from Sunday's Euros final against Italy shows Kate Middleton comforting Prince George following England's defeat to Italy.

Taken by a fan a few rows behind the Cambridge family, the video shows William, Kate and George leaving the stands after the final whistle was blown.

George, seven, was pictured looking glum with the final score, and the new footage shows his mum Kate, 39, turn to him and offering him comfort.

The Duchess also leans towards her husband who places an affectionate hand on her back.

The clip was shared to Instagram by Daniel Ingram, who admitted he was "so fortunate" to be there for the match.

He captioned it: "One of the best days you will ever have watching your team go toe to toe in a major final. Gutted to not get to see them win the shoot out but proud of them none the less.

"Also got amazing seats behind the royal box and got to see the future Kings, Boris, Beckham, Figo, Kate Moss and many others."

Prince William shared a heartfelt message to the players on Instagram after the game, writing: "Heart-breaking. Congratulations @Azzurri on a great victory.

"@England, you’ve all come so far, but sadly this time it wasn’t our day. You can all hold your heads high, and be so proud of yourselves — I know there’s more to come. W."

William also revealed he was "sickened" by the racist abuse directed towards England's players after the Euros final.

It comes after Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were flooded with racist abuse on social media after failing to score their penalties.

The FA has condemned the vitriolic comments towards the England players, describing it as "disgusting behaviour".

Prince William said: "I am sickened by the racist abuse aimed at England players after last night’s match.

"It is totally unacceptable that players have to endure this abhorrent behaviour. It must stop now and all those involved should be held accountable."
