Tottenham defeated Bodo/Glimt 3-1 to take control of the Europa League semi-finals and move a step closer to ending their 17-year trophy drought.
Brennan Johnson opened after just 41 seconds and James Maddison scored a magnificent second, controlling Pedro Porro’s long pass and finishing, as Ange Postecoglou’s side dominated the first half.
Dominic Solanke’s penalty on the hour-mark put Spurs in a commanding position, but Bodo captain Ulrik Saltnes pulled one back late on to offer the Norwegian champions some hope ahead of next week’s return leg.
Bodo are still huge underdogs but they knocked out Italian side Lazio in the quarter-finals and will have home advantage on their next week as they return to their home inside the Arctic Circle.
And a potential Tottenham-Manchester United final moved a step closer too after Ruben Amorim’s side won 3-0 at Athletic Bilbao ahead of next week’s return leg at Old Trafford.

Tottenham deliver for Ange Postecoglou but late twist is a warning for what’s to come
22:10 , Jamie BraidwoodRight then, how tricky is this artificial pitch? What kind of ice storm could Bodo/Glimt summon for the arrival of Tottenham next week? Because the underdogs from the edge of the Arctic Circle are going to need as hostile an environment as possible if they are to turn this Europa League semi-final around.
In the first leg, Spurs made full use of their home advantage: a resounding 3-1 win, only dampened by a late deflected strike by Bodo’s stand-in captain Ulrik Saltnes, has Tottenham with one foot in the final and brought a smile to the face of Ange Postecoglou.
Jamie Braidwood reports from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

Tottenham deliver for Ange Postecoglou but late twist is a warning for what’s to come
James Maddison and Dominic Solanke injury update
22:47 , Will CastleAnge Postecoglou believes the injuries sustained by Dominic Solanke and James Maddison were "hopefully nothing too serious" and hints they were just niggles.
With a Europa League final potentially on the docket, Postecoglou will be desperate to have these two fit.

Brennan Johnson 'set the tempo' with his first-minute strike
22:40 , Will Castle"If before the game you would have said that we'd have a two goal cushion then we'd be happy with it,” Johnson told TNT Sports.
"I didn't realise it was that early [his opener]. They are a team that build in confidence with time to play so we knew that we had to be onto them straight away. Getting the early goal really set the tempo and I thought we started really well.
"Maddison has scored a few goals like that this season and makes the run really well. Porro has the quality to find that pass and when it comes off it works really well. So when they get the timing right and Madders can finish it off it is a really well worked goal.
“They are a tough team. There is a reason why they have beaten other teams in the past. Disappointed to concede at the end but we are happy with the performance.”

A good night for English teams
22:18 , Will CastleWe could have three Premier League teams in European finals as Manchester United and Chelsea joined Tottenham on the winners table.
United stunned Athletic Bilbao on their own turf with a 3-0 win, meaning it could very well be Man United vs Tottenham in the Europe League final.
And in the Conference League, Chelsea thrashed Djurgarden 4-1 to edge closer to their own continental finale.
There, they could face either Real Betis or Fiorentina, whose tie is the closest out of the four played tonight. Betis lead 2-1 after the first leg, with United loanee Antony getting the decisive goal in Seville.
FULL-TIME! Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
22:01 , Will CastleSpurs are in control after the first leg and will bring a two-goal lead to Norway next week.
Goals from Brennan Johnson, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke put Ange Postecoglou’s side in complete control, but a late strike from Ulrik Saltnes may have put a grain of doubt in the minds ahead of their Artic expedition.
Nevertheless, they’ll have a lead to defend, which they surely would have taken at the beginning of the night.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
22:01 , Will Castle90+6 mins: CLOSE! Kulusevski fires on the turn and his shot goes just past the post!
And that should do that.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
22:00 , Will Castle90+5 mins: Delivery comes in and the referee blows for a foul.
Haikin to launch up the field. Seconds remaining.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:59 , Will Castle90+4 mins: Spurs have got control of the ball again and Kulusevski has just won a corner.
What the hosts would do now to re-establish their three-goal lead. That would really settle any nerves that have formed in the last 10 minutes.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:57 , Will Castle90 mins: Bodo/Glimt are putting pressure on in the final moments.
They’re peppering Tottenham’s box with crosses, with the third delivery collected by Vicario to a sigh of relief.
Tottenham do not need this. FIVE added minutes to come.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:54 , Will Castle87 mins: A three-goal lead felt somewhat insurmountable. Two feels doable for Bodo/Glimt, who have been stellar on their own turf in this competition.
With a second leg in the harsh surroundings of the Arctic Circle to come, this tie could be far from over.
GOAL! Tottenham 3-1 Bodo/Glimt
21:49 , Will Castle83 mins: GOAL! BODO/GLIMT HAVE ONE BACK!
It’s Saltnes’s deflected strike off Bentancur that loops into the top corner over Vicario - that could be a BIG blow for Spurs.
Suddenly, this tie doesn’t feel so secure.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:48 , Will Castle82 mins: CLOSE! The corner comes in and falls to Tel on the edge of the box, whose volley deflects off a Bodo/Glimt back and could have gone anywhere. Luckily for Haikin, it flies just beyond the top corner.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:46 , Will Castle80 mins: CHANCE! Lovely ball from Porro into Kulusevski who takes it on the half-turn on the edge of the box, but shoots straight into a Bodo/Glimt leg - out for a corner.
You have to feel he shot a bit too early there. He was in a great position.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:45 , Will Castle78 mins: The last 10 minutes have shown that even if the scoreline is coming up Tottenham, they still need to be very careful - especially when it comes to personnel.
Solanke and Maddison have both come off injured since that third went in - and having seen Bergvall arrive on crutches earlier, Spurs will fear their injury curse has not yet passed.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:42 , Will Castle76 mins: Foul deep in the Spurs half from Hauge as they try and play out from the back. The latest to receive a yellow.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:40 , Will Castle74 mins: Silly challenge by Romero, who ends up in the book for a foul that was not necessary at 3-0 up.
Solanke has also hit the deck with an issue. He comes straight off for Odobert.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:38 , Will Castle71 mins: Spurs are 3-0 up, Manchester United are 3-0 up.
Barring a calamitous capitulation - which isn’t exactly impossible given their seasons - we are getting an all-Premier League final in the Europa League.
This will be MASSIVE!
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:35 , Will Castle69 mins: CHANCE! Solanke gets into a shooting position once more as he drives into the box, but his low shot is deflected behind for a corner.
Romero meets the delivery and heads just wide.
Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:32 , Will Castle65 mins: It’s a party atmosphere in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but all is not perfect.
Maddison has gone down with what looks like a hamstring injury and has been forced off in place of Kulusevski.
Should Spurs hold onto this hefty advantage and book their place in the Europa League final, that could prove a massive blow.
GOAL! Tottenham 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:27 , Will Castle61 mins: GOAL! Dominic Solanke steps up... and converts with EASE!
He doesn’t take his eyes off the keeper, watching him go one way before rolling the other.
Spurs are teetering on a European final!
PENALTY! Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:26 , Will Castle60 mins: As expected, penalty!
This could be the tie.
Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:25 , Will Castle59 mins: Maddison has teammates free on the edge of the box but dinks into the middle. The ball loops which prompts Romero to leap for the header - and on the way down, he gets caught on the calf by a Bodo/Glimt player.
The ref is going to the screen! This looks like a penalty for Spurs...
Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:23 , Will Castle57 mins: First yellow card of the evening as Bjorkan stands on Johnson’s foot.
Dangerous free-kick position on the right of the Bodo-Glimt box.
Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:19 , Will Castle53 mins: Maddison delivers a free-kick from deep which is headed out by a Bodo/Glimt shirt for a corner.
It’s whipped in and Solanke leaps to meet it, but he’s beaten to the ball which sparks a Bodo/Glimt counter.
Blomberg makes a run and would have been in on goal if not for an important Udogie intervention.
Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:16 , Will Castle50 mins: Bodo/Glimt enjoying a period of possession at the moment, just content with ticking it around the back as they look to find some rhythm.
However, they’re yet to do anything of note with the ball. This second half is yet to really get going.
Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:14 , Will Castle47 mins: Confirmation that it was actually the linesman who pulled his calf, not the fourth official. The linesman has now swapped roles with the original fourth official.
That makes a bit more sense, because how on earth does a fourth official pull his calf?
BACK UNDERWAY! Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:11 , Will Castle46 mins: BACK UNDERWAY! After an extended 19-minute interval, we’re off again.
HALF-TIME! Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:10 , Will CastleA bit of delay to kick-off for the second half... and you’ll never guess why.
The fourth official has strained his calf! How has he managed that?
He’s not the only replacement at the break - Tel is coming on for Richarlison for Spurs, while Nielsen has made way for Moe in a defensive change for Bodo/Glimt.
HALF-TIME! Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
21:00 , Will CastleElsewhere in the Europa League...
It’s Athletic Bilbao 0-3 Manchester United.
We’re on course for an all-English final - and no home final for Athletic Club.

HALF-TIME! Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt

HALF-TIME! Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:52 , Will CastleIt’s been an ugly season, but maybe - just maybe - it will end with glory.
Spurs are two up in their semi-final first leg against Bodo/Glimt, and are in complete control.
Goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison give Ange Postecoglou’s side a healthy advantage at the break.

Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:51 , Will Castle45+1 mins: CLOSE! A warning for Spurs!
Bentancur is caught napping and lets his man nip in front of him as a ball is whipped in, with Blomberg getting there first and volleying just over.
Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:50 , Will Castle45 mins: TWO minutes added on for first-half stoppage time.
Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:49 , Will Castle43 mins: Things are going well for the Premier League sides in Europe tonight.
Tottenham are two up, and down in Bilbao, Manchester United are three up. As things stand, we’re getting an all-English Europa League final.
Chelsea are also 2-0 to the good in the Conference League.
Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:43 , Will Castle38 mins: SAVE! Haikin may have just kept Bodo/Glimt in the tie!
Spurs continue to put pressure on their opponent’s box and as the ball comes out to Bentancur, he launches a piledriver towards the top-left corner, which is brilliantly saved.
GOAL! Tottenham 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:37 , Will Castle34 mins: GOAL! TOTTENHAM HAVE TWO!
James Maddison is played in behind by Pedro Porro, bring it under control in the box before slotting it past the keeper with aplomb!
It’s make or break time for Spurs, but they are in COMPLETE control!
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:36 , Will Castle32 mins: Once again, Spurs play it down the left receives as Richarlison drives towards goal.
He tries to side-foot it into the far-corner but doesn’t get the curve or the direction, with his effort gobbled up by the keeper. Simple save.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:33 , Will Castle28 mins: Optimistic penalty shout for Bodo/Glimt as Udogie and Bentancur collide with Maata in the box.
Maata goes flying and crashes to the deck, but he was searching for contact. More simulation than a foul, and the referee waves it away.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:27 , Will Castle23 mins: Another Spurs corner is delivered and flicked on to the path of Bissouma on the edge of the box.
Once again, the midfielder swings at it wildly and sends the ball high and out of shot.
That’s not coming down for a while.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:24 , Will Castle20 mins: Bodo-Glimt are awarded a set-piece opportunity, which is played short before being whipped into the Spurs box.
Vicario comes to collect and after juggling with the ball for a split-second, he is able to claim it and kill the danger.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:22 , Will Castle17 mins: First little opening for Bodo/Glimt as Bjorkan drives down the left, before playing to Hauge on the edge of the Spurs box in space.
Hauge can’t get proper control of it and Spurs bring it away.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:20 , Will Castle15 mins: Johnson is played down the right and tries to turn provider with a cross towards Solanke.
He wins a corner, which is flicked out on by Richarlison to Bissouma, whose first-time volley isn’t caught properly. Bissouma then goes again from range and his effort ricochets off the referee.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:17 , Will Castle12 mins: Bodo/Glimt haven’t unravelled since conceding inside just 37 seconds - but it is Tottenham who are dominating possession.
Spurs will need to add to their advantage without making themselves vulnerable at the back, because what Bodo/Glimt have proved this season is that they can score against Europe’s big hitters.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:14 , Will Castle9 mins: Maddison delivers a corner which meets the head of first Romero, then Van de Ven, but it loops over.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:11 , Will Castle6 mins: CHANCE! Spurs are looking to put this tie out of bed before it’s even really started.
Long straight ball from inside their own half tries to play Maddison through between the two centre-backs. He gets into the box and tries volleying first time but scuffs it, with his effort looping over.
'Nightmare start for Bodo/Glimt and Spurs can smell blood'
20:10 , Jamie BraidwoodBefore kick-off, the entire Bodo/Glimt team joined the coaches and support staff for a pre-match huddle led by captain Ulrik Saltnes.
Less than a minute later, the Bodo/Glimt players were in a huddle again, meeting on the edge of the box after Johnson’s goal.
A nightmare start for the Norwegian side and Spurs can smell blood. The underdogs need to get through this opening passage without conceding again.
Tottenham 1-0 Bodo/Glimt
20:08 , Will Castle3 mins: The atmosphere was already terrific in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but it’s gone through the roof now.
Bodo/Glimt have been rocked and will now need to find their rhythm.

Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt
19:53 , Jamie BraidwoodThe Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a sea of white, with every home fan finding a Spurs flag on their seat after arriving at the ground.
The pocket of bright yellow in the corner is the travelling Bodo/Glimt supporters, who have made the journey from the Arctic Circle to London.
Cracking atmosphere.

Spurs proved potential in underdog position at Frankfurt
19:45 , Will CastleTottenham’s season has not gone to plan. Far from it.
However, they’re in a European semi-final - and they’ve had to beat some difficult opposition to get here.
Last time out, they were considered the underdogs against Bundesliga high-flyers Frankfurt. After being held to a draw at home, many expected Frankfurt’s highly-rated attack to overpower the under-performing Spurs.
But they were able to grit through the away leg and emerge with a slender 1-0 lead, courtesy of a Dominic Solanke penalty.
Now, they are back in the position of favourites against the competition’s Norwegian surprise package, Bodo/Glimt. A good performance tonight and they could all but seal their place in the final at San Mames.

Closing in on kick-off
19:18 , Will CastleWe’re on the verge of kick-off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs lock horns with surprise package Bodo/Glimt, hoping to edge closer to a Europa League final.
Ange Postecoglou’s future could rest on how tonight goes.
The players are lining up, ready to take to the pitch. They’ll come out to a vociferous atmosphere.
We’ll have all the action, next.
Ange Postecoglou not underestimating Bodo/Glimt
19:15 , Jamie BraidwoodAnge Postecoglou promised Spurs will not underestimate the Norwegian champions after his own twin defeats to them as Celtic boss in 2022.
"You'd love us to think that, that you're a small club and we don't rate (you). No, no, that's not how I (think), I just said I think Bodo's there on merit. They beat Lazio, they beat Olympiacos, tough teams. They're there because they're a good football team.
"Irrespective of how this season's gone, we have generations of fans who want this more than anything else, to share again with the people that they love a special moment supporting their football club."
The fighter pilot who led Bodø/Glimt from the Arctic Circle to a European semifinal
19:05 , Jamie BraidwoodFrom a small town north of the Arctic Circle, FK Bodø/Glimt has emerged as one of European football's most captivating underdog stories.
Their unlikely transformation is largely thanks to Bjørn Mannsverk, a former fighter pilot who brought his unique mental coaching techniques to the club.
In 2017, Bodø/Glimt had just been relegated to Norway's second tier. Mannsverk, brought in as a "mental coach," found a team riddled with negativity and prone to "collective mental breakdown."
His mission was to overhaul the team's mentality, encouraging open communication about feelings, stress reduction, and improved attitudes towards preparation and nutrition. He aimed to destigmatise mental training, shifting the focus away from winning or losing and towards embracing a new philosophy and culture.

Six changes for Son-less Spurs
18:58 , Will CastleAnge Postecoglou will have to make do without Heung-min Son tonight as he makes six changes from the side thrashed by Liverpool last weekend.
Djed Spence, Kevin Danso, Ben Davies, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Mathys Tel all come out for Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro and Rodrigo Bentancur.
Bergvall is not in the matchday squad having played the full 90 minutes in the loss at Anfield, also out with a twisted ankle.

Bodo/Glimt: The team of ‘mates’ from the Arctic Circle out to shock Tottenham
18:30 , Jamie BraidwoodBodo/Glimt sporting director Havard Sakariassen has described his team as a group of “mates” but warned Tottenham they can spring another shock and become the first Norwegian club into a European final.
Lazio, Olympiacos and Twente have already succumbed in this season’s Europa League to the side from the small town of Bodo inside the Arctic Circle.
Next up are Spurs in the last four and Thursday’s first leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Bodo’s entire population of 55,000 could fit into the ground with plenty of room to spare, but Sakariassen believes the tight-knit team, who were in the second tier eight years ago, can upset the odds, especially given their growth since Arsenal beat them twice in 2022.

James Maddison says Tottenham squad are behind Ange Postecoglou
18:15 , Jamie Braidwood“We're behind the manager 100 per cent. He's a great man. I come into work every day and see the lads listening, taking on the messages how he wants to play and the coaches and trying to do what's best for this club.
"We're in a very good position in Europe where we can still have a special season under his management."
James Maddison fronts up on Tottenham's season
18:00 , Jamie Braidwood"No one in the whole club from top to bottom can be satisfied with where we are. It definitely hurts. I had to do an interview at Liverpool on Sunday and we have lost 5-1. It's a little bit embarrassing, I'm a bit embarrassed myself and you have to go and talk.
"I know no one actually wants to hear what I have got to say because they want to see the reaction and get the reaction - and that is the chance we have on Thursday night.
"Then in seven days time we have got another massive game and if we get through that, we are in a European final so there are positives there, but we have got to go and do it and show them we are just as hungry as they are to win something."

James Maddison hurt by Tottenham’s ‘embarrassing’ season
17:45 , Jamie BraidwoodJames Maddison has been left hurt by the latest "embarrassing" chapter in Tottenham’s Premier League campaign, but stressed the inner drive of everyone at the club to reward the fanbase with Europa League success.
A much-changed Spurs side suffered a 5-1 thrashing at Liverpool on Sunday and in the process tasted defeat for a record-equalling 19th time in the division this season.
Tottenham have not experienced so many losses in a Premier League campaign since 2004 and while more unwanted records could tumble, Ange Postecoglou's squad still have the chance to win a first trophy in 17 years, with Bodo/Glimt set to visit in a Europa League last-four first-leg tie on Thursday.

Ange Postecoglou rejects criticism of Tottenham's Europa League run
17:30 , Jamie Braidwood“I’ve seen people trying to diminish it in some respect. I’ve heard people say, ‘well it’s the equivalent of Man United winning the FA Cup’. No it ain’t. I’m sorry. Not on any world is it the equivalent.
“Others are suggesting we are not worthy of the Champions League. Again, things that are designed to diminish what’s ahead of us, which is an unbelievable opportunity. Irrespective of how this season has gone we have generations of fans who want this more than anything else, a special moment watching this football club.
“Look, this season could have gone very differently and we could be flying in the league but it wouldn’t make this opportunity any different. The opportunity is the same and I’ve made that clear to the players. What we have before us is a semi-final in a European competition and the opportunity to win a trophy and get Champions League football.”
Ange Postecoglou rejects Erik ten Hag comparisons as Tottenham eye Europa League
17:15 , Jamie BraidwoodAnge Postecoglou has hit back at people who he says are trying to “diminish” Tottenham’s bid to reach the Europa League final and rejected comparisons with Erik ten Hag winning the FA Cup with Manchester United last season.
Spurs face Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals and will host the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night as they look to reach a European final and win their first trophy since 2008.
Postecoglou is under pressure as a result of Tottenham’s poor Premier League campaign, with Spurs 16th and Sunday’s 5-1 defeat at Liverpool their 19th of the league season, but said the club have an “unbelievable opportunity” in Europe.

Son Heung Min to miss Europa League semi-final first leg
17:05 , Jamie BraidwoodTottenham captain Son Heung-min missed training ahead of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final first leg against Bodo/Glimt.
Son has not featured for Spurs since a 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on April 10 due to a foot injury, but head coach Ange Postecoglou expressed hope last week that the South Korea forward could return for the visit of Bodo.
The absence of Son from training the day before the last-four first leg makes the 32-year-old a serious doubt to play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he could even struggle to make the return encounter in Norway next week.
Son has scored 11 goals in 43 appearances this season, but none from open play since January 23 – a run of 15 club matches.
What is the team news?
17:02 , Jamie BraidwoodTottenham captain Son Heung-min remains out with a foot injury and he will play no part in the first leg. A much-changed Spurs side lost 5-1 at Anfield and Postecoglou is likely to revert to a stronger team, with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Dejan Kulusevski to be recalled.
Bodo/Glimt will be without captain Patrick Berg, who is suspended alongside Hakon Evjen and Andreas Helmersen. Centre-back Odin Bjortuft could miss out due to injury.
When is Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt?
17:01 , Jamie BraidwoodThe Europa League semi-final first leg will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday 1 May. Kick-off is at 8pm BST.
How can I watch it?
It will be shown live on TNT Sports 2, with coverage getting underway from 7pm. Subscribers can also stream the match live on Discovery+.
Good evening
17:00 , Jamie BraidwoodTottenham Hotspur continue their quest for a first major trophy in 17 years as they host underdogs Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-final first leg.
Ange Postecoglou’s side lost for the 19th time in the Premier League this season with a 5-1 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday but the club is focused on Europe.
And success in the Europa League would make up for a hugely disappointing campaign, with Spurs showing steel to defeat Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.
Bodo/Glimt are the surprise package, with the Norwegian champions defying expectations to knock out Lazio in the quarter-finals.
It could be very difficult for Tottenham next week as Postecoglou’s side face a trip to the Arctic Circle, so seizing home advantage will be vital.
