Tottenham Hotspur will trial the use of the NHS Covid-19 pass when they take on Arsenal in their pre-season clash on August 8, the club have now confirmed.
The pass will be trialled in both of Spurs ' men's and women's matches against the Gunners next month following recent government announcements.
Last week, the UK's government confirmed that supporters attending live matches would need a Covid-19 pass that shows they have had both vaccines in order to gain access to the stadium.
Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi revealed that proof of a negative test will "no longer be sufficient" evidence that a person is not carrying the virus.
Now, Tottenham have become one of the first clubs to be trialling the Covid-19 pass for their north London derby pre-season friendly with Arsenal.
On the club's official website, Spurs said: "All adult supporters attending the Arsenal double-header will be required to present their NHS COVID Pass, generated by the NHS App, on their mobile device as they enter the stadium to confirm they are either fully vaccinated or have received a negative COVID-19 test result within 48 hours of kick-off.
"Please note, if you have not yet received both required COVID-19 jabs, you will be required to take either a PCR or rapid lateral flow test.
"Passes will be checked by a steward between the initial ticket check at the bottom of the stairs leading to our podiums and ahead of arrival at our turnstiles.
"Full details on presenting the NHS COVID Pass and a step-by-step guide to entering the stadium will be provided ahead of the event."
The requirement to provide the pass is expected to be at events of over 20,000 spectators as the government continue their efforts to return to normality.
