Tottenham to make announcement on January transfer after Jose Mourinho admission

Tottenham are yet to make a signing in the January transfer window.

But they have allowed as many as six players to leave on loan this month with Malachi Fagan-Walcott, who made his senior debut for Spurs last March in the Champions League defeat against RB Leipzig, becoming the latest to leave.

The defender has linked up with Scottish Championship side Dundee for the remainder of the season.

Fagan-Walcott joins the likes of Harvey White, Jubril Okedina, Jack Clarke, Brandon Austin, and Shilow Tracey who will be playing their football elsewhere between now and May.

Now it would appear that Tottenham are set to announce the departure of a first-team player.

According to the Daily Mail, Trabzonspor have reached an agreement with Spurs to sign forgotten defender Danny Rose and ends the full back's 13-and-a-half-year spell in north London.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT claim the Turkish outfit are hoping to complete transfer over the weekend with the left-back being offered a three-and-a-half year deal.

Rose fell out of favour under Jose Mourinho at the start of the 2020 and subsequently joined Newcastle United on loan for the remainder of last season and wasn't even given a squad number upon his return.

Having not secured a move away last summer he was duly left out of Spurs' Premier League and Europa League squads but has been getting some games for the U23's this season.

Once the deal is confirmed, it will be Spurs' seventh deal of any kind in the January window and head coach Jose Mourinho has admitted it would be a 'huge surprise' if he is able to bolster his first-team squad before deadline day.

"Don't think so. Honestly, I don't think so. As I was saying before the transfer is window open and anything can happen until the last second. I'm convinced nothing is going to happen," Mourinho said.

"If something happened it would be a huge surprise for me."

Meanwhile, amid links to Paris Saint-Germain - where Dele Alli would be reunited with Mauricio Pochettino - Mourinho has revealed that he expects the England international to stay put.

"I expect (him to be here) and I am saying that since the beginning of the window," Mourinho added. "I was not expecting anyone to leave or expecting anyone to come. We are almost at the end of the window.

"I don’t believe that anything will happen but it is open still."
