Tottenham shirt numbers available to Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison after summer transfers

Tottenham's squad for the 2023/24 season should look rather different to the previous campaign with the club having plenty to do in the summer transfer market. Incomings most certainly need to take place if the Lilywhites want to get back in the running for a Champions League finish after finishing eighth.

Having already clinched the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski following his 18-month loan spell in the capital, Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario looks on course to be the next arrival in a £16.3 million deal. More transfers will be expected to follow after the signing of the Italian as Tottenham need to look at strengthening at centre-back and attacking midfield.

Bayer Leverkusen ace Edmond Tapsoba could be the player who comes in and helps take the backline up to the next level after making a big name for himself in Germany. Tottenham fans know all about the threat James Maddison possesses and he would be an outstanding addition if the club can get a deal over the line for the Newcastle target.

So what shirt numbers are available for Tottenham's summer signings and Destiny Udogie on his return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? football.london takes a look below.

Available

No.2

The No.2 shirt has been vacant since the end of the January transfer window after Matt Doherty's contract was mutually terminated so he could join Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

No.13

Available ever since Michel Vorm's departure, Udogie could be the next to inherit the No.13 shirt as that was his number at Udinese and he currently wears it for Italy under-21s.

No.16

Arnaut Danjuma's return to Villarreal following his loan spell means that the No.16 shirt is free for any new players coming in through the door.

No.22

Nobody has yet to take on No.22 since Pierluigi Gollini departed 12 months ago following his loan spell.

No.26

No.26 appears to be retired in all-but-name with no player wearing the number since Ledley King called time on his career 11 years ago.

No.27

The No.27 shirt will also be free to choose from following Lucas Moura's exit after five-and-a-half years in N17.

The shirts that could soon become available

No.1 - Hugo Lloris

The No.1 shirt will no doubt appeal to incoming arrival Vicario with Hugo Lloris signalling his intent to leave for a new challenge.

No.3 - Sergio Reguilon

A permanent exit could come to fruition for Reguilon if he is not to be part of Postecoglou's plans for the new season.

No.5 - Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

A regular in the Tottenham XI ever since his move from Southampton, Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club ahead of the new season.

No.6 - Davinson Sanchez

With Tottenham needing to make key changes at the back, Sanchez could be one of the summer causalities having played a bit-part role in recent seasons.

No.8 - Harry Winks

Winks will enter the final year of his contract come the start of July. After spending last season on loan, a move looks best for both parties.

No.11 - Bryan Gil

It remains to be seen what will happen with Gil after struggling for regular minutes and two loan exits ever since his move from Sevilla two years ago.

No.14 - Ivan Perisic

About to enter the final year of his contract and not someone for the future given his age, Perisic's stay in N17 could potentially come to an end after only one season.

No.15 - Eric Dier

The time could also be right for Dier to move on after nine years in north London as he is about to enter the final year of his contract.

No.18 - Giovani Lo Celso

Having spent the past 18 months on loan, a permanent exit for Lo Celso looks likely. Barcelona and Aston Villa have been linked with a move for the Argentina international.

No.19 - Ryan Sessegnon

Set to find himself down the pecking order with Udogie linking up with his Tottenham teammates for the very first time, Postecoglou and Tottenham have a decision to make over Sessegnon following another injury-hit campaign.

No.25 - Japhet Tanganga

Seeing a summer exit fall through 12 months ago, Tanganga could this time get his move as opportunities will once again be extremely few and far between for him at Tottenham.

No.28 - Tanguy Ndombele

Ndombele could bid farewell to Spurs this summer after four years in north London. Just not working out for him at all since his big-money switch from Lyon, it seems the ideal time to move on the midfielder.
