Tottenham player ratings vs West Ham: James Maddison struggles again as Cristian Romero relishes challenge

Tottenham and West Ham had to settle for a point apiece at the London Stadium as Brennan Johnson's early goal was cancelled out by Kurt Zouma.

Johnson continued his excellent form by poking home Timo Werner's cross in the fifth minute but the West Ham captain equalised when Jarrod Bowen's corner went in off his back.

Here's how we rated the Spurs players after the 1-1 draw...

Guglielmo Vicario 8

Saved one-on-one from Michail Antonio in a big moment on the hour. A bit flappy from set-pieces and could he have come for the corner for Zouma's goal?

Parried efforts from James Ward-Prowse and Antonio.

Pedro Porro 7

Pickpocketed by Mohammed Kudus for an early West Ham chance but a threat going forward. Nearly scored with a low drive which whistled past the post and forced a save from Lukasz Fabianski.

Cristian Romero 7

Defended well and appeared to enjoy the physical challenge of facing Antonio and Co.

Micky van de Ven 6

Involved in a fierce battle with Antonio, who shrugged him off the ball to create a big second-half chance. Allowed Bowen's corner to float over his head for the equaliser.

Destiny Udogie 7

Got forward with purpose, and was involved in the build-up to Spurs' early goal.

Yves Bissouma 5

Worked hard but his forward passing was mixed. One of the two players closest to Zouma for the West Ham equaliser.

Rodrigo Bentancur 6

Started well and was excellent in the build-up to the opening goal, creating space in midfield and playing a one-two with Udogie. Faded and was outshone by Lucas Paqueta.

James Maddison 5

Got into some decent positions but not at his best again, and replaced for the second game running with Spurs looking for a goal.

Brennan Johnson 7

Continued his hot streak with the opening goal and was bright when he found space, flashing a couple of brilliant balls across the six-yard box.

Timo Werner 6

Made the difference with an early assist for Johnson but was well-handled by West Ham afterwards.

Heung-min Son 6

Fired a tame effort at Fabianski in the first half and flashed another wide after the interval. Struggled to find space.

Subs

Pape Sarr (Bentancur 70') 6

Used the ball well enough.

Dejan Kulusevski (Maddison 70') 6

Created a couple of half-chances and perhaps pushing for a start at No10 on Sunday.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Bissouma 82') 6

Battled hard in midfield.

Richarlison (Werner 82') 6

Crowded out in a late cameo. West Ham were happy to take a point by the time he came on.

Giovani Lo Celso (Johnson 90')

Not enough time to make an impact.

Not used: Austin, Dragusin, Emerson, Davies.
