Tottenham morning headlines as Spurs make Rodon transfer breakthrough, Bale proves fitness

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Tuesday, 13 October.

Progress made on Swans defender

Football Insider claim Spurs have made a transfer breakthrough in their pursuit of Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon.

José Mourinho faces a race against time to secure Rodon’s signature before the October 16 domestic deadline, but progress appears to have been made.

Until now, there had been concerns over a potential pricing structure to the deal, with the two clubs struggling to agree on an acceptable fee.

Spurs are now open to the possibility of a variety of transfer ploys to tempt Swansea into selling. These include a player-plus-cash deal, an up-front cash option and a move which would see Rodon loaned back to Swansea for the remainder of the season.

Spurs are seemingly willing to get creative in order to land the 22-year-old.

Selection dilemma for Jose

Jose Mourinho is faced with a difficult decision ahead of the side’s home game against West Ham United this weekend.

Now blessed with a plethora of attacking and midfield options at his disposal, Mourinho must decide who makes his starting XI.

The Portuguese manager could call on loan signing Gareth Bale against the Hammers, but with the blistering form of Tottenham’s attack in recent weeks, he may stick with his tried and trusted personnel.

Sergio Reguilon will battle it out with Ben Davies for a starting spot at left-back.

Elsewhere on the pitch, Mourinho has multiple options to pick from after an incident-free international break.

Bale impresses in training

Gareth Bale has been pictured by the Tottenham Hotspur media team scoring goals in small-sided games in training.

The Welshman appears to have recovered from a knee injury which has prevented him from making his second Spurs debut as of yet, and could be in contention for a return this weekend.

In the video posted on social media, Bale can be seen finding the back of the net in multiple drills, displaying his sharpness and coolness in front of goal.

It has driven Spurs supporters into a frenzy as they anxiously await Bale’s second debut for the club.

football.london understand Bale’s training performances have been very impressive, and could lead to his surprise inclusion in the starting XI against West Ham.
