Tottenham morning headlines as shock Troy Deeney move eyed and Serge Aurier tipped for exit

Here are the Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Monday, August 3.

Everton could sign Spurs-linked Lille star

Lille defender Zeki Celik could soon be on his way to Everton, according to The Times.

The Turkey international right-back is also said to be on Tottenham’s radar this summer, but it’s the Toffees that are currently negotiating with the Ligue 1 club over a potential fee.

Seamus Coleman remains Carlo Ancelotti’s first-choice option at right-back but the club are looking to bring in another option following loanee Djibril Sidibe’s return to Monaco.

Tottenham, meanwhile, could be required to replace Serge Aurier, who has been linked with a move away.

Aurier tipped to join AC Milan

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano says that AC Milan have made another move for Aurier after missing out on his signature last summer.

The Ivory Coast international was a regular under Jose Mourinho last term, having knuckled down after requesting to leave the club for the Serie A giants last year.

But a deal could be back on the cards for the 27-year-old, who has made 83 appearances for Spurs since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Tottenham considering shock loan move for Troy Deeney - report

Spurs could look to capitalise on Watford’s relegation and take their talisman Troy Deeney in a loan deal next season.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who suggest that Mourinho is looking to have his centre-forward options behind Harry Kane bolstered following Troy Parrott’s loan to Millwall.

The 32-year-old striker has been a mainstay for the Hornets during their five-year stay in the Premier League, and finished as the club’s top scorer in seven of the last nine seasons.

Watford are said to be open to offers for Deeney, whose contract at Vicarage Road is set to expire next summer. According to the report, Spurs have only enquired about a potential loan.
