Tottenham morning headlines as Jose Mourinho offers injury update, Dele Alli tipped for exit

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur headlines for the morning of Thursday, October 29.

Spurs boss provides encouraging update on Japhet Tanganga

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has revealed Japhet Tanganga is getting close to a return to action following a spell on the sidelines through injury.

The 21-year-old has yet to feature for Mourinho’s side in the Premier League this season, with the young defender only playing once in all competitions due to a thigh injury.

But Mourinho has provided an encouraging update on Tanganga’s fitness, although he is not expected to feature against Antwerp in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

“[Japhet] Tanganga is the only player we really say has an injury or is in treatment from quite an important injury,” he told reporters.

“Very unlucky kid, he had a problem from before lockdown, then hard work to get back, played Chelsea in the cup and then this injury. But he's coming. Great professional, great sense of responsibility and he's working well to come back.”

Former Spurs full back tips Dele Alli to leave club in January

Alan Hutton believes Dele Alli will leave Tottenham Hotspur in January in an effort to find more regular first team football.

Alli has started just twice for Spurs so far this season, with the 24-year-old falling down the pecking order under Mourinho. It’s a situation that has left many, including Hutton, baffled.

“Something has to change,” the former Tottenham and Scotland right back told Football Insider. “I still don’t understand what it is - does Mourinho not rate him as a player, does he not work hard enough, is he not doing the right things in training? We don’t know.

“There’s something going on there and he must play football. I think he’s a fantastic player and he should be playing the game.

“He needs to get back - whether it be at another club on loan in January or whatever but he’s such a talented boy and he has to be playing football.”

Two Tottenham teenagers spotted boarding flight for Europa League match

Dennis Cirkin and Harvey White have been spotted by eagle-eyed Tottenham Hotspur fans boarding the club’s flight for Thursday night’s Europa League fixture against Antwerp.

This suggests the two teenagers could be in line to feature for Spurs in Belgium as Mourinho looks to rotate his squad to cope with the sheer number of fixtures his side are being asked to fulfil this season.

Cirkin could offer depth at left back while White could be given an opportunity to prove himself in central midfielder, with Tanguy Ndombele set to miss the match against Antwerp through injury.

Spurs got their Europa League campaign off to a winning start at home to LASK last week, with Mourinho’s team selection suggesting he will use the competition to rotate his team.
