Tottenham morning headlines as Jose Mourinho makes Son Heung-min contract admission

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Saturday, October 24.

How Serge Aurier tried winding up Gareth Bale

There was plenty to take away from Tottenham’s comfortable 3-0 win over LASK in the Europa League on Thursday.

Instructions bellowed by Joe Hart echoed around an empty Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while Jose Mourinho’s regular praise of “Bravo” was audible without the noise of a crowd.

But one of the more memorable moments took place post-match as Gareth Bale conducted his post-match interview, as Serge Aurier was doing his best to distract the Wales international with increasingly high-pitched cries of “Gareth! Gareth!”

A consummate professional, Bale remained straight-faced as he answered questions, but the fun and games behind the scenes suggests there are no issues reintegrating him after seven years away at Real Madrid.

Here’s all the moments you might have missed from Thursday’s match.

Jose Mourinho addresses Son Heung-min contract situation

Mourinho is relaxed about Son Heung-min’s contract situation at Tottenham, but has admitted he’d love to see the South Korea star commit his future for even longer.

The 28-year-old attacker’s current deal runs until 2023, but talks are said to be going on behind the scenes to give him an extended, more lucrative deal.

"I would love that. Son has three years of contract so it's not like we're in an extreme situation of everybody being worried. It's more that Son loves it here, I believe that he would like to commit his future to the club for a long time," Mourinho said.

"Everybody at the club is totally in love with this player and this boy and is trying also to make him feel part of the furniture.

"It's normal the club tries to go from three years to four or five or six, I don't know. It's normal, but it's a very calm situation because Sonny has three more years of contract.”

Here’s everything the Portuguese coach said on the topic.

Former Spurs full-back reveals who it would be a “dream” to play with

Alan Hutton has said it would have been a dream to play alongside Son at Tottenham.

The 35-year-old former right-back, who retired from his playing career last year, made 66 appearances for Spurs between 2008 and 2011, before going on to spend the longest stint of his career with Aston Villa.

“He just looks like a positive guy, he always looks happy, he never looks down. He just looks like that sort of person who’s happy to come into work every day and work hard,” Hutton told Football Insider .

“You can see it in his performances on the pitch. There’s never a moment where you think: ‘Oh, he’s a bit off it.’ Even if he makes a bad pass or whatever, he’s rushing to get the ball back, his energy levels are through the roof.

“He just looks like a fantastic guy to be part of your squad and work with. I bet he’s a dream for managers.”
