Tottenham keen on Chelsea’s Levi Colwill amid Micky van de Ven concerns

Tottenham have joined Levi Colwill‘s growing list of admirers despite Chelsea insisting the defender is not for sale.

Chelsea have offered the 20-year-old a new contract to secure his long-term future, but it remains unsigned as the homegrown youngster seeks assurances over his game time in west London.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to hand Colwill a first-team role in the coming season despite competition from Benoit Badiashile, Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah in a back four.

The 20-year-old will on Monday fly out with his Blues team-mates for a pre-season tour of the United States having being afforded just a week-long break following his Under-21 European Championship victory with England.

Spurs have held talks with Wolfsburg for primary defensive target Micky Van de Ven but have Colwill on their shortlist.

The are fears that Liverpool, who also regard Colwill highly, could hijack talks for Van de Ven as they target a similar profile of defender.

Brighton have seen several offers for Colwill rejected, the last being a club-record £40m figure, and have now begun sounding out cheaper alternatives.

Manchester City could also target Colwill but only if talks for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol collapse.
