Spurs join race for Sam Johnstone

Tottenham have joined Newcastle, Southampton and West Ham in a transfer battle for Sam Johnstone, reports TalkSport.

The 28-year-old is out-of-contract at West Brom at the end of the season, with the England international currently playing in the Championship.

Spurs have been linked with a number of goalkeepers, with current club captain Hugo Lloris’ deal expiring next summer.

Antonio Conte gives the green light to January transfers

Antonio Conte has revealed he is set to strengthen his Tottenham squad in January during his pre-match press conference for the Watford clash.

The head coach will be hoping to add his own stamp to the squad in his first transfer window since getting the job.

He said: “For sure [signings are needed]. After only two weeks I said we needed to improve the quality of this squad and for sure we need to.”

With Antonio Conte giving the green light to make transfers, whoever he signs may not be immediately available to him for selection.

Due to registration rules, an early addition to the squad may not be available for the Watford clash or either of the Carabao Cup semi-final clashes with Chelsea.
