Tottenham increase stadium capacity ahead of new Premier League season

Tottenham have further increased the capacity of their new stadium ahead of the 2019-20 season.

The club assessed the seating arrangements over the summer, following April's much-delayed opening, and found space for 152 extra seats.

The capacity is now 62,214.

Haringey Council approved the increase, which will see more seating added to both the north and south stands.

The south stand was already the largest single-tier stand in the country and will now see its 17,500-seater capacity increased. It also boasts the two largest screens in western Europe.

The highest attendance record at the ground so far, when capacity was set at 62,062, was the visit of Ajax in the Champions League as 60,243 attended.

The stadium has not been maxed out in the seven games hosted thus far due to a number of factors, including segregation of fans and TV cameras, despite all tickets being sold, with a full capacity crowd likely proving near-impossible to achieve.
