Hugo Lloris had an eventful day at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Spurs picked up an important three points at home to Southampton, following an indifferent start to the season, but the 2-1 result does not tell the whole story.
Spurs went in front, despite a slow start to proceedings, when Tanguy Ndombele fired past Angus Gunn from a Son Heung-min cutback.
But Serge Aurier received his marching orders for two yellow cards in quick succession soon after, handing Tottenham a tough rest of the afternoon.
Things got even more difficult when captain Lloris dropped one hell of a clanger.
Taking a pass back, Lloris attempted to turn Danny Ings in his own box, but his attempted turn went wrong, allowing Ings to dispossess him and tap in from a yard out.
Harry Kane restored the lead before half-time - a lead Spurs managed to hold onto in the second half which was thanks in no small part to Lloris making two fantastic saves.
The Frenchman denied James Ward-Prowse with a flying save from a free-kick, before then making a brilliant reaction save to deny Maya Yoshida from a point-blank range header.
And Lloris endeared himself to the Tottenham faithful at the final whistle.
The skipper made a point of heading over to the giant single-tier South Stand to applaud the fans, and probably apologise for the howler, and he got a rousing reaction.
The supporters made a huge noise as they chanted his name back at him. All, it seems, was forgiven.
