Tots at Todholm Nursery get the anti-litter message with a fun clean up

Youngsters are getting the anti-litter message early as they set off into the woods on a fun clean up.

The wee ones from Todholm Nursery have been taking part in a week of litter picks as part of Renfrewshire Council’s Spotless September campaign.

They’ve been heading into the nearby Dykebar Woods, where they hold their forest nursery sessions, to give the area a good tidy.

Armed with litter pickers, plastic bags and tabards to keep their clothes clean, they’ve been on a mission to improve the space.

Child development officer Shannon McDaid said: “Danielle Smith from the nursery organised it for us.

“The children have seen a lot of the Team Up to Clean Up posters and wanted to get involved.

“It’s something we want to encourage them to do and to do it safely.

“They all feel so responsible.

“They wear their capes and have their bin bags, they loved it.

“It’s making a difference and trying to make the children proud of their community and encourage their parents and family not to drop litter.”
