Tory leadership contest results in full as Boris Johnson elected Prime Minister

Boris Johnson has been elected Prime Minister in a landslide victory over Jeremy Hunt in the Conservative Party leadership contest.

The new Tory leader will take office on Wednesday afternoon, following Theresa May's final Prime Minister's Questions.

Mr Johnson will go to Buckingham Palace for an audience with the Queen, before returning to Downing Street to give a speech on the steps of Number 10.

On Wednesday evening he'll start putting together his new cabinet.

Ministers opposed to his "do or die" pledge to pull the UK out of the EU on October 31, even if there is no deal in place, could exit before Theresa May formally gives up the premiership on Wednesday afternoon.
