Tory aide swears live on Good Morning Britain as Boris Johnson hides in fridge

Boris Johnson once again tried to avoid scrutiny as he hid from a reporter in a fridge this morning - after the frustration of one of his aides boiled over on live television.

The Prime Minister was doing an early morning milk round in Yorkshire on the final day of campaigning before tomorrow's General Election vote - and a reporter from ITV's Good Morning Britain programme was after a word.

However, this clip shows the moment reporter Jonathan Swain attempts to speak to the Prime Minister on live television, as his aide appears to say 'oh for f***'s sake'.

This brought about an instant reaction of shock from GMB hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid as they watched on live from the studios.

Mr Swain attempted to speak to the Prime Minister and asked him to make good on his promise to be interviewed on the popular morning show.

The PM replies to say "I'll be with you in a second" and walks off, before Piers exclaims "he's gone into the fridge".

A camera crew then follows the PM as he can be seen disappearing behind stacks of milk crates and into the large fridge at the delivery depot.

The reporter explains: "I'm actually being pushed and shoved at the moment as well by one of the minders.

Mr Swain then asks the minder, named on GMB as press secretary Robert Oxley, to "tone your language down", as the segment appeared live on ITV.

Tory sources have since attempted to suggest that Mr Oxley was not swearing at the reporter and was expressing general frustration.

The Conservative Party leader was delivering milk in the marginal seat of Pudsey, West Yorkshire this morning, as he continues his whistle-stop tour of key battleground electorates on the eve of the election.

Boris Johnson has been widely criticised for avoiding scrutiny and difficult interviews during the General Election camapaign.

He infamously dropped out of a sit down with renowned BBC presenter Andrew Neil while all other party leaders agreed to such an interview.
