Top US general reportedly warns Pentagon of inefficient resources to protect Israel

  • General Alexus Grynkewich, commander of the U.S. European Command, reportedly informed the Pentagon that current resources are insufficient to continue defending Israel from incoming ballistic missiles .
  • Grynkewich warned that without the deployment of an additional Navy destroyer, he would be forced to choose between protecting the U.S. homeland or Israel, the Washington Post reported Saturday.
  • The ongoing fighting, described in the article as "President Donald Trump ’s war with Iran," has significantly strained existing military assets, necessitating increased maintenance for the five destroyers currently based in Spain and depleting missile supplies.
  • Beyond resource depletion, the conflict has led to the deaths of at least 18 service members and a Defense Department assessment revealed the U.S. has used more advanced missile-defense interceptors defending Israel than Israeli forces.
  • The conflict is increasingly unpopular, even among some of Donald Trump's supporters, due to rising everyday prices caused by transportation issues in the Strait of Hormuz, and congressional support for aid to Israel appears to be diminishing.
