Even though most games in this year's World Cup are being played in the evening, our 24-hour working culture will still see millions of employees stuck in the office, worried about missing all the drama in Brazil. If this is the case you might want to think about a career change before the next big sports fixture.
Even if you're not a football fan, it's hard not to get caught up in the spectacle of the tournament. While it's business as usual for many of us, for a lucky few, they will be able to watch every game during working hours with no questions asked.
So, here are the jobs that really do come into their own whenever there's a big sporting event:
Television salesman
Whenever there's a big match broadcast on our TVs, there's always one person who is happy to work through it. The electronic store salesmen have the pleasure of choosing from hundreds of television screens, from the biggest to the flattest to the smartest. What's more, you can make a few quid on commission all while keeping one eye on the ball.
Pub landlord
Hoards of football fans that can't make the flight to Rio will require food, drink and a good atmosphere to watch the football back in Blighty. For big sporting events, pub landlords and owners transform their traditional gaffs into patriotic, cinematic complexes capable of housing every man and his dog.
Security guard
A good security guard should be alert, primed and ready for any eventuality. Ultimately, not a lot happens. This provides the perfect opportunity to stream live football direct to your phone. And if anyone asks what you're doing, you can always say that you're monitoring CCTV feeds.
Childminding
The hard thing will be getting those little nippers to bed as fast as possible so they won't disturb the night's drama. Allow for 15 minutes play during half-time. Just be careful not to celebrate too loudly – you might wake them.
Bookmaker
Football fans often have an air of optimism and tend to stick a few quid on results and outcomes to spice up the most exciting (and boring) football games around. While many bookies won't be able to show live games, you can always stream it yourself behind the counter while taking bets of every nature from punters with all eyes turned to Rio.
Postman
While not the most obvious of choices, postmen are renowned early risers and, with the majority of work carried out before lunchtime, this gives you the rest of the day to prepare for evening kick-off. The late night games may hinder your early starts, but there's plenty of time to catch up with sleep in the afternoon. Perfect.
Cleaner
Cleaners are hired by almost every business to keep things ship shape. Many offices nowadays have televisions, laptops, PCs and tablets and the all-important Wi-Fi. Once employees have left the office, this leaves you with free rein to stick on the footy while you work.
