Top 10 Disney-inspired baby names set to be hugely popular in 2023

Choosing a name for your baby can be a tough task and with more than 600,000 little ones born in the UK each year, plenty of parents-to-be spend hours of their lives searching for the perfect moniker.

Finding something you like the sound of, as well as its meaning, can be tricky, so it isn't surprising that many mums and dads are turning to their favourite films for inspiration.

New research conducted by OutdoorToys has analysed the number of babies named after popular Disney movie characters, to determine which movies have inspired the most popular baby name trends in the UK.

The name Arlo takes the top spot as the most popular Disney movie-inspired name. Arlo is the protagonist in the 2015 movie, The Good Dinosaur, who develops an unlikely friendship with a human boy.

The name Arlo has connotations of a fearless, kind and strong character, and some 2,154 babies born in the UK were named Arlo in 2021.

Ranking as the second most popular Disney movie-inspired name is Alice. According to the film inspired by Lewis Carroll's tale, Alice is a trustful daydreamer and a wildly curious character.

Her intense curiosity can often land her in precarious situations, but Alice handles these with a cloak of calmness.

Hugo scores third position with 1,335 babies taking inspiration from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Hugo forms part of a trio of gargoyles and is the most comical and flamboyant one of the three.

Acting as Quasimodo's guardian, Hugo is described as protective, intelligent and optimistic.
