Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton believes Mauricio Pochettino is still trying to discover his best Tottenham formation this season.
The Spurs boss made several changes once again as they beat Red Star Belgrade 5-0 at home to record their first UEFA Champions League win of the season.
That lifted Spurs onto four points from their first three group B games, with Bayern Munich comfortably top on nine points.
It was a confident performance from Tottenham against significantly weaker opposition, which should boost morale ahead of a daunting fixture against Liverpool at Anfield at the weekend.
However, Pochettino once again tinkered with his system, reverting from the three-man defence he fielded against Watford at the weekend.
After switching formation and personnel once again, Sutton has admitted he believes Pochettino is still searching for the perfect formula to get Spurs up and running this term.
"No, I don't think he does [know his best system]," Sutton told BT Sport.
"You look at the weekend, he played three centre-halves, he's striving to find his best system and the players that fit into that system.
"Then you look at the bench, [Christian] Eriksen, [Lucas] Moura, Harry Winks on the bench. They've got good players at Tottenham they just haven't gelled this season.
"I think Mauricio Pochettino is just trying to get the best team out on the pitch that will win the match. I don't think he has any favourites.
"Too many have underperformed, one clean sheet in the Premier League this season, one in the Champions League tonight.
"He'll be thinking can we go on and build from here but there are tough tests to come."
