Tony Romo throws one in for eagle at Byron Nelson

Tony Romo, playing in his third PGA Tour event, chipped in for eagle on the 7th hole on Thursday in the opening round of the AT&T Byron Nelson at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

Romo was at even par through six on his home course when his eagle on the par-5, 544-yard 7th took him into red numbers.

The CBS football announcer was just off the green when he bounded his chip shot up on the green and watched it roll dead-center to the flagstick before dropping in.

Earlier in the day, Romo got a free drop after his ball came to rest a fire ant hill.

Romo came into the event as a 10,000-to-1 longshot to win the event.

Not even James Adducci is taking that action.

Oh, by the way, Denny McCarthy shot a 63 and holds the clubhouse lead.

Romo is T-148 and shooting a 5-over 76, beating four players: Will Claxton and Jose de Jesus Rodriguez each shot 77, and Martin Trainer and Jonathan Byrd shot 78.

But hey, let’s live in the moment and enjoy the coolness that is Tony Romo.
