Tony Adams has encouraged Martin Odegaard to write himself into the Arsenal history books ahead of the Premier League showdown against Manchester City. The 24-year-old is hoping to lift the Gunners' first league title since 2004.
Odegaard, who sees his contract at the Emirates Stadium expire in 2025, has featured 31 times for Mikel Arteta's side this term, directly contributing towards 20 goals from midfield. His impressive performances have lead the north Londoners to the brink of a historic title – but the reigning champions stand in Arsenal's way.
The Gunners head into the blockbuster clash against City five-points clear, but Pep Guardiola's side have two games in hand. In what is shaping up to be a difficult fixture, Adams has issued a rallying cry and even made Odegaard an offer.

The former Arsenal captain posted a picture on his Instagram story on Wednesday of him chatting with Odegaard. Adams captioned it: "Come on skipper, sending you the spirit of 89. COYG."
Then, in said interview for the official club website, the Norway international told Adams that the result against City won't define who wins the Premier League. Odegaard said: "It’s like you say, no matter what happens on Wednesday there is still so much to play for.
"Both teams have so many tough games after, so it’s not like a final, but of course it’s an important game, it’s important to get the momentum. As I said, the team is confident, even though we didn’t win the last three games now I think the team is confident. I feel like we can go there and do something."
Then, in jest, Adams said: "Man City, Wednesday, and you’ve got your mate by the way [Haaland]. Call him when we beat them. Can I call him for you when you’ve got a hat-trick?
Odegaard replied: "He’s on fire. It will be a great game. I think everyone is looking forward to this game, two good teams.
To which Adams added: "I’d love to give you a hand to be honest, that would be right up my street. I’d get your mate and give him a good kicking… fairly, of course."
Odegaard responded: "Yeah, you should come, we’ll sign you up for this game."
