Toni Kroos and Eden Hazard make same transfer decision - Real Madrid to react differently

Toni Kroos is set to snub interest from Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich even if he doesn’t sign a new contract with Real Madrid.

The Germany star’s current deal expires next summer and the club have offered him a further 12-month contract. However, sources close to the player think that even if he decides against the one-year option he could reject offers from his side’s European rivals.

Kroos is understood to have received proposals from each of them with PSG willing to offer a three-year deal and Bayern a one-year deal with the option of a further year based on his form. City’s offer would be for two years but sources in Spain say his next move will not be decided by money.

At 32, Kroos would not fit the age profile City would normally be looking at but his experience and ability makes him of interest. Real have told Kroos they want a decision by March.

Meanwhile, his Madrid teammate Eden Hazard will dig in his heels to stay at the Bernabeu until the summer despite the club bidding to move him on in January. Agents acting on behalf of the Spanish giants have approached several outfits in England and Italy to see if they are willing to take the Belgian star.

Real are keen to get him out and will listen to offers from any club wishing to take him on a permanent deal or on loan. However, Hazard has made it clear he does not want to leave until the end of the season, chiefly because he is unwilling to disrupt his children during an academic year.

The 31-year-old’s time in Madrid has been hugely disappointing for both parties and has not worked out in anything like the way it was expected to following his move from Chelsea.

Real splashed around £100million for the player in 2019 but his time with the club has been blighted by injuries. Belgium captain Hazard is set to lead his nation against Morocco at the Althumama Stadium in Qatar this afternoon.

They started their Group F campaign with a 1-0 win over Canada on Wednesday, after which Hazard made it clear he wanted to stay at the Bernabeu until at least the summer.

"When I don't play it's difficult, but if I play, of course. Soccer is my life and I just want to play. I am a player who has not played many games in three years. I can understand it. I have to show when I play, be it five, 10 or 15 minutes," Hazard told Marca.

"I want to play and when I do I have to do it well. I don't play but being a Real Madrid player was my dream as a child and after this year I have another season on my contract. I want to play for this club, with this shirt.

"In January it is impossible, because I have family and I like the city. But in summer it is possible that I go. I have one more year on my contract and it's the club's decision. If the club tells me 'Eden, thanks for four years, but you have to go', I have to accept it because it's normal. But I would like to play more, show more that I can play, that I am a good player."
