Tommy Fury finally shares 'amazing' story behind daughter with Molly-Mae Hague's name on ITV Loose Women

Tommy Fury has joked that he had 'no choice' but to call his baby daughter Bambi as he finally shared the 'amazing' story behind her name. The boxer and his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague came in for some criticism when they revealed their baby girl's Disney-inspired name last month.

The couple, who met and fell in love on Love Island in 2019, announced the arrival of their first child on January 30 they shared their first picture with their little girl, who they didn't confirm until later that they had named Bambi, and confirmed she made her entrance into the world a week earlier on January 23.

Molly-Mae and Tommy, both 23, shared a sweet black and white snap, which showed the pair beaming in the hospital with their bundle of joy, and simply captioned it: "23/01/23." It was 24 hours later that they confirmed their Disney-inspired name choice for their first child together.

Influencer Molly-Mae has also previously appeared to have hinted at the sweet nickname she has for her daughter "BamBam," she wrote alongside a white heart in a snap posted to her Instagram Story that showed her holding on to her then-newborn as they stood in front of her envy-inducing wardrobe.

Last month, the new mum addressed the backlash to her daughter's name in her first YouTube vlog since giving birth as she spoke all about her labour. The creative director for fashion brand PrettyLittleThing, burst into tears as she gazed down at her tiny bundle of joy and said: "I literally just said 'welcome back to my channel.'" And she asked her daughter jokingly: "What have you done to me? This is me crying all time, so emotional."

And on announcing her unique name, Molly-Mae said it turned out to be a "hard day." She said: "I switched Instagram comments off. I was brought back down to earth very quickly of how nasty this world can be. She explained: "Because we'd literally known that our first baby girl was going to be called Bambi, we had gotten so used to the idea that that was going to be her name and to us it wasn't really that unusual anymore.

"And I know it's unusual and unique and not going to be to everyone's taste, but when we announced it, in my mind it was just beautiful, it's her, she's Bambi and that's a beautiful name, amazing, amazing... and then just two seconds after posting it I was like, 'Oh my God!'"

Tommy appeared on Loose Women (ITV)

Appearing on Loose Women on Thursday (March 9) following his victory over Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia last month, Tommy was asked about his new life as a dad and about his and Molly-Mae's controversial name choice. "It’s a really amazing story to be honest, because obviously in the villa, we were talking about it," he told the Loose Women panel, which included Charlene White, Judi Love, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore, after they mentioned a time on Love Island where they were given fake baby's to look after.

"Then when we left, we were talking about it even more, having babies," Tommy continued. "There was only one name for our little girl, and it was Bambi because when Molly was young, she only ever wanted to call her little daughter one thing, and that was Bambi. So I’m not gonna be that guy to say no. And I love the name anyway."

Charlene then asked:"‘How much do you love being a dad?" to which Tommy, who is the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, replied: "It’s the best thing that has ever happened to me. Forget the boxing," before the audience let out a collective ‘aww’ and clapped.
