Tom Garfinkel shares fresh concept art of new Miami training facility

Turns out the Miami Dolphins have much more to look forward to in the future than just better days on the gridiron. Everyone knows that the Dolphins are a team building towards the future — but that future includes more than just draft picks and new players. Dolphins vice-chairman, president and CEO Tom Garfinkel unveiled the latest addition to the future — a brand new, world class training facility. It’s expected to be completed in 2021.

The Dolphins’ current training facility, located in Davie, has been on the chopping block since last summer. The new digs will be located in Miami Gardens, just to the northwest of Hard Rock Stadium. When Garfinkel first announced the plan to move the training facility last summer, he suggested that a new facility was a logical next step after the team completed their renovations to Hard Rock Stadium.

“I think (a new training facility) came more to a head about a year ago (in 2017) and became something we discussed more seriously and now that the stadium is closer to being completed, it was like ‘what’s the next step in the evolution of the organization to really be best in class?” said Garfinkel. “And every year we’ve had needs (in Davie) and we’ve sort of just put band-aids on and we just decided we needed to build a first-class facility.”

The facility is estimated to cost around $80M to build.
