Tom Davies to Rangers transfer path cleared by Frank Lampard after Everton star receives glowing Beale report card

Everton boss Frank Lampard has confessed he is open to letting players leave Goodison Park this month amid reports linking Tom Davies with Rangers - but admits he's been short of offers for his fringe men.

Michael Beale is looking to bolster his ranks this month and the 24-year-old has been touted with a move to the Scottish Premiership, having caught the eye of the boss during his time in the Liverpool academy while Davies was coming through the ranks with the Toffees. Davies is out of contract at the end of the campaign and it's reported Everton would prefer to recoup a fee for the midfielder rather than loan him out. Davies is on the fringes of Lampard's squad, having made just 10 appearances this term.

Todd Cantwell looks set to be the first arrival of the Beale era from Norwich era as the Londoner utilises his connections south of the border, and the Everton gaffer has left the door open for approaches from clubs. Lampard admitted he is keen to offload some players' wages to allow him to strengthen his squad for the Premier League relegation scrap.

Speaking ahead of the crucial clash with Southampton, Lampard was quizzed about approaches for his players so far this month. He said: "There's always moving parts, whether there's interest and whether it's better for us for the player to move on, whether it's in the player's interests or ideally if it's both and they move on.

"At the moment there isn't much happening on that front. I always get asked 'who are you going to bring in?' But also with a squad it's important players move on.

"That's balancing the squad and part of the process. We're open to it in the right areas, for sure."

Following the win over Dundee United, Beale was asked about any interest in Davies. He said: "Tom Davies, he used to kick my Liverpool Under 23s team all around the place.

“There’s a bit of John Lundstram about him. But there’s a lot of players we are speaking to at the moment.”
