Tom Brady has admitted he regrets taking part in a Netflix roast due to the impact it had on his children.
The NFL legend, 47, faced a slew of risqué jokes over his divorce from Gisele Bündchen during The Roast of Tom Brady last June.
Comedians like Nikki Glaser, Tom Segura, Andrew Schulz, Bert Kreischer, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Sam Jay took aim at the seven-time Super Bowl winner, with many poking fun at his split from Bündchen in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage.
Glaser even made digs at Brady over Bündchen choosing to date her jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, with whom the supermodel has since had a baby.
While Brady said he appreciated the “locker room” banter, he said the TV special was “really hard” on his kids - son Benjamin, 15, and daughter Vivien, 12 with Bündchen and son Jack with his actress ex, Bridget Moynahan.
"It was tough on my kids for sure. You don’t know what to expect and I love laughing at myself, it felt like I was in the locker room. And the harder people go at me, I’ll actually love it,” he said on the Impaulsive podcast.
Brady went on: "If people make fun of you, then I know I’m good with them. And I don’t take myself too serious but I do understand that for my kids, that was really hard.
"There are some things as a parent you f*** up and you don’t realize until after. We’re not perfect parents. There’s no perfect manual for it and you have to evaluate yourself as a parent too all the time.
"So even though I really enjoyed the show and the performances were incredible – and when you were in that moment, in that theatre that night at the Forum, it was electric. It was crazy.”
He recalled: "We got done and everybody was on cloud nine. And that moment I’ll never forget. And I’ll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day, and I felt like a stake through the heart – and understandably.
“They’re protective of their mom, of their dad, of everybody. ‘What was the point of that? Why did you do that?’ You live and you learn.”
Former Victoria’s Secret Angel Bündchen initially sparked romance speculation with Valente in November 2022, shortly after her divorce from Brady, when they were seen on holiday together in Costa Rica.
They were potted at the popular Koji restaurant in Provincia de Puntarenas, where they were joined by Valente’s brother, Jordan, along with Bündchen's children.
However, the two didn’t officially start dating until June 2023 and they welcomed a son earlier this year.
