Tom Brady's vow to Tampa Bay Bucaneers teammates after "amicable" Gisele Bundchen split

Tom Brady ’s divorce from Gisele Bundchen has now been finalised and he will now shift his focus back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On Monday night, the NFL icon revealed the news on his "Let's Go!" podcast and claimed the split was "amicable" with his priorities being his children and the twilight phase of his career.

"I think there's a lot of professionals in life that go through things that they deal with at work and they deal with at home," Brady said. "And obviously the good news is that it's a very amicable situation and I'm really focused on two things -- taking care of my family and certainly my children, and secondly, doing the best job I can to win football games.

"So that's what professionals do. You focus at work when it's time to work, and then when you come home you focus on the priorities that are at home. And all you can do is the best you can do, and that's what I'll just continue to do as long as I'm working, as long as I'm being a dad."

Brady will hope his renewed focus can revitalise his stuttering NFL side, who have won just three of their eight games so far this season. For the first time in 20 years, Brady has suffered a three-game losing streak following defeats to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers and most recently the Baltimore Ravens.

They will hope to return to winning ways against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. Brady and ex-wife Bundchen, who have two children together, started dating back in December 2006 and married in February 2009.

Following months of speculation, Brady and Bundchen have now reached a settlement to end their marriage with documents set to be filed on Friday. After an agreement over the terms of the split, which will remain confidential and sealed, Brady took to Instagram to confirm the news.

"In recent days, my wife and I finalised our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage," his statement read. "We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the centre of our world in every way.

"We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve. We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world.

“However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you."

Bundchen also confirmed the news by releasing a statement of her own. She said: "With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalised our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve.

"The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always. I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time. Thank you. Gisele."
