Tokyo logs 635 new COVID-19 cases as 7-day average continues to rise

Tokyo confirmed 635 new cases of the novel coronavirus Sunday, marking the 25th consecutive day that the tally surpassed that of the same day the previous week.

The metropolitan government said that the Sunday's figure brought the 7-day moving average in the capital to 727.1, up 24% from 586.4 in the preceding week.

Hyogo Prefecture reported 473 new cases, the highest number seen in the prefecture on a Sunday.
