Todrick Hall blames The Greatest Dancer's cancellation on coronavirus crisis

The Greatest Dancer's Todrick Hall reckons he knows what's to blame for the show's cancellation.

The BBC dance show got the boot earlier this year after two series, the BBC thanking all involved amid reports that ratings hadn't lived up to expectations.

Now Todrick, who judged and mentored on the show alongside Cheryl, Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison, has blamed the ongoing coronavirus crisis and social distancing measures, MailOnline reports.

He told the publication: "When I heard about all the social distancing I wasn't surprised [that it was cancelled].

"If the audience can't be there, it won't work. It's like The Voice with no judges and spinning chairs."

The 35 year old added that he and the other judges are holding out hope for a revival - because they enjoyed it so much.

"The show gives people an experience to be creative," he said.

A BBC spokesperson said last month: "While there are no plans for a further series of The Greatest Dancer, we are proud of the show and would like to thank everyone involved in bringing so many memorable moments to BBC One."

Cheryl, meanwhile, is surrounded by rumours that she'll put her name down for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing now she's got dairy space.

Bookies Ladbrokes recently slashed odds for the mum of one to take to the floor.

It's been reported that the Beeb is including Strictly among it's most prioritised shows amid coronavirus.

Kate Phillips, the BBC's entertainment boss, said: "We are absolutely looking very carefully at Strictly and how we could do Strictly this autumn."

Should Strictly go ahead, Oti will be returning to her role as a pro dancer, following her win on the last series with Emmerdale's Kelvin Fletcher.

No doubt Cheryl will be gutted that she won't be able to see Matthew as much any more, as the fellow judges struck up a strong rapport behind the scenes and even exchanged parenting tips.
