Three-year-old girl dies in hospital after suffering burns in house fire

A toddler has died in an Adelaide hospital after suffering horrific burns in a house fire in South Australia's Mid-North last week.

The three-year-old girl was rushed to the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide with serious, life-threatening injuries after a house fire in her Port Augusta home on November 1.

She died from her injuries on Monday and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Two other children, including a four-year-old boy, and several adults were also injured.

The Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS), police and paramedics were called to the scene on Carrig Avenue about 8:40am and found the property engulfed in flames.

Police said a child was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, and said another had sustained minor burns.

SA Ambulance said a 28-year-old, believed to be a neighbour, entered the home and had also been taken to Port Augusta Hospital for smoke inhalation, along with the two children.
