Todd Gurley explains why he’s envious of the flailing Cowboys

Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley made a head-turning but fair point during a press conference on Thursday.

In Week 15, the Rams are set to play the Dallas Cowboys, who are flailing with three consecutive losses. Coach Jason Garrett seems to be on the verge of getting fired. Owner Jerry Jones is fresh off swearing at hosts on Dallas sports radio. But it sounds like Gurley wouldn’t mind trading places with the Cowboys — even though they’re clearly in an embarrassing state.

“(Expletive), they’re in a better place than us, because they’re going to make the playoffs,” Gurley told reporters.

Hard to argue with that.

As bad as the Cowboys have been in recent weeks, Dallas (6-7) is the No. 1 team in the NFC East, which is comprised of entirely incompetent teams. The Rams (8-5) seem to be getting hot, with three wins in the last four games, but they’re still on the outside of the playoff bubble at third in the NFC West and seventh in the NFC’s seeding.

Gurley is probably doing the song-and-dance routine where players and coaches pump their opponent with undue praise. But the point is still a good one.
