Todd Cantwell issues defiant vow ahead of Rangers vs Celtic

Todd Cantwell has vowed that Rangers will respond from their Champions League disappointment against Celtic.

The former Norwich star was gutted as the Ibrox side crashed out of qualification for UEFA's elite tournament last night.

A 5-1 victory for PSV on the night was more than enough to see the Dutch outfit cruise into the group stage of the 2023/24 competition, with Michael Beale's men now destined for the Europa League.

It was a bitterly disappointing evening for the Light Blues with the score level at 2-2 heading into the second leg.

They must now dust themselves down quickly ahead of Sunday's Old Firm derby at Ibrox.

Rangers could leapfrog champions Celtic with a win, which would lay down a real marker against Brendan Rodgers' league leaders.

And Cantwell has issued a defiant message to supporters ahead of the weekend.

Posting on his Instagram story, he said: "It hurts, we will respond."

Rangers are just one point behind Celtic in the Premiership. Both sides are rather undercooked heading into the powderkeg clash.

Kilmarnock humbled Beale's side on the opening day of the campaign, while Celtic last weekend dropped points in a goalless draw at home to St Johnstone.

Cantwell scored in the last derby meeting between the pair at Ibrox in May, with Beale's side running out 3-0 winners.

Meanwhile, Glen Kamara is on the verge of leaving Rangers.

The Finland international is booked in for a medical at Leeds United.

The midfielder has been frozen out of first team picture at Ibrox by Michael Beale as the club looks to move him on to pastures new.

It's believed that Rangers will be due around £5.5million for the 27-year-old should the deal go through with the Championship club.

There shouldn't be any issues with that though, as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims that Kamara has already agreed to personal terms with the Yorkshire club.

He will undergo his medical today and is likely to be announced tomorrow in time for the transfer deadline.

Rangers will make a hefty profit on the player who they bought from Dundee for £50,000 in January 2019.
