Welcome back to another day of Wordle as we keep trucking through this giant word list of five letter options that we will seemingly never run out of. Middle of the week, so do we have a hard or easier one today? This one stumped me for a little while, but it’s not anything you’re going to have to look up to understand.

The New York Times continues to keep its multi-million dollar purchase outside of its paywall, so we’ll see how long that lasts. Just curious if anyone has subscribed to NYT after they bought Wordle? Just seems like a bit of an odd play for them, but here we are.

An Introduction to Wordle

  • For those new to the game, read this Wordle primer before you start playing and learn about how this fad got started.
  • Then, if you want some advanced tactics to get those low guess answers, you can read the Wordle Tips and Tricks guide here.

Today’s Wordle #263 Answer

Alright, it’s time for today’s answer, and I will put up a spoiler warning here in case you have stumbled upon this post by accident. As ever, not sure how this would happen, but I figure it’s better to be safe than sorry. A final hint? What contains twelve of these and isn’t a clock? Sorry, I just watched Batman with The Riddler.

The answer is...

Month NYT

Month!

Okay, so MONTH is not exactly the most out-there word, and yet I had some trouble with this one. Maybe because I was doing the puzzle at midnight and not thinking clearly, but I think this was kind of a strange one just in terms of guess formatting. I started with CRANE, my usual opener. That got me nothing but an N somewhere. Then I did WINKS which at least put the N in the right place. I did BONDS after that even though I knew the S was wrong, as I was trying to get one of the remaining vowels in there, which worked. Then for reasons I can’t actually explain I did MONTY, like, the Full Monty. Then I stared at the screen for an incredibly long time until I finally got the only remaining letter that made any amount of sense to make MONTH. Swear to god I almost tried MONTZ. Look I was tired, okay?

So, did you get it? Keep that streak alive? I’m still rebuilding mine from a few days ago, though I already forgot the word that felled me. Such is life. Move on.
