The future of Toby Alderweireld has got Tottenham fans feeling a little bit nervous as time as Spurs hangs in the balance.
The 30-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract in north London, and with no hint of a new deal being agreed, it means he could be allowed to leave for free next summer.
Spues took up an option to extend his deal to 2020, but by taking up that option Tottenham activated a clause that means an offer of £25m for Alderweireld must be accepted if it arrives this summer before the final two weeks of the transfer window.
With his future hanging in the balance, few could blame the defender for being distracted going into pre-season, but that's not Alderweireld's style.
Taking to social media, the Belgian international shared a video to his Instragram story of him counting down to his return to pre-season training with Spurs.
The news that the defender appears focused on preparing for the season ahead is excellent news for Spurs.
Alderweireld played a key part in Tottenham's season during this campaign, having missed much of last season following a serious hamstring injury and then struggled to get back into Mauricio Pochettino 's plans in the second half of the campaign.
However, last term he turned out 50 times for the north London side.
Tottenham's fans will certainly be hoping that they will get to see a lot more of him with many hoping his contract situation can be solved soon.
