Titans take Peter Skoronski in latest Draft Wire mock

Now that the first wave of free agency has come and gone, draft experts have updated their mocks for the 2023 NFL draft, but nothing much has changed when it comes to who experts are mocking to the Tennessee Titans.

In a recent mock from Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy, the Titans select offensive tackle Peter Skoronski with the No. 11 overall pick. For more on Skoronski, check out the scouting report from our own Shaun Calderon below.

There has been some thought that the signing of Andre Dillard — who we assume will play left tackle — in free agency might change Tennessee’s draft plans at No. 11 overall, but I’ve contended that it won’t.

After all, Dillard isn’t a sure thing, as he’s never had a full-time starting gig in his career. Adding to that, Dillard’s positional versatility (he can play guard and right tackle, also) gives Tennessee options if they do take a left tackle and want to start him in Year 1.

My ideal target at No. 11 overall is Paris Johnson Jr., but I don’t think he gets past the Chicago Bears at No. 9. If that happens, Peter Skoronski would be the next best bet.

However, Skoronski does come with concerns over his lack of length, which many experts believe will lead to him being a guard at the next level.

If the Titans draft the Northwestern product and that turns out to be the case, or if he just needs more time to develop into an NFL left tackle, Tennessee has Dillard as an insurance policy, at least going into 2023.

The Dillard signing definitely opens things up for the Titans to go in a different direction with their first pick in this year’s draft, but it doesn’t preclude the team from taking a left tackle entirely.
