Titans safety Kenny Vaccaro praises former teammate Johnathan Cyprien

The writing was on the wall for Tennessee Titans safety Johnathan Cyprien seemingly as soon as fellow safety Kenny Vaccaro agreed to terms on a four-year, $26 million deal in 2019.

Vaccaro more than just stepped up in the place of a sidelined Cyprien in 2018, and Robinson wasn’t kidding when he said he was making Vaccaro a “primary target” in free agency.

While Vaccaro is pleased with being the one chosen to remain in Nashville – and with the love he’s received from the fan base – he still feels for Cyprien and is forever appreciative of what he’s done for him.

“Him kind of welcoming me with open arms, and being the stand-up, class act he is, it’s tough,” Vaccaro told reporters.

When the Titans made the announcement they would be releasing Cyprien, it really didn’t come as much of a shock to either safety.

“He kind of knew. The writing was on the wall after the season… he’s just a great dude.”

The move to keep Vaccaro on the roster was well received by the fan base, which Vaccaro says he’s grateful for.

“The Saints, they have a really great fan base too. But for some reason here, it was like I instantly felt appreciated.”
