One of the most impressive plays of the Tennessee Titans’ 2019 season came in Week 17 against the Houston Texans when quarterback Ryan Tannehill and wide receiver A.J. Brown connected for a 47-yard play.
And the level of difficulty of the completion was off the charts, as you’re about to see.
Tannehill had to complete a deep pass to Brown, who was double covered and not only had to get positioning on two defenders, but also had to drag his feet to finish the catch by the sideline.
This play was the most improbable completion of the entire 2019 season with a 6.2 percent chance of being successful, per the NFL on Twitter.
That was one of two catches of 40-plus yards made by Brown in the game, and it set up an easy one-yard touchdown run for Derrick Henry on the next play that gave the Titans a two-score lead in a do-or-die game they would go on to win.
Brown went on to total 124 yards and one score in the winning effort.
At the time, fans were mesmerized by the catch, and rightfully so, it showed the full range of Brown’s ability as a pass-catcher and only added to the legend that the rookie had built in his first season.
Adding to that, it showed Tannehill’s pinpoint accuracy, as he put the ball in the perfect spot for Brown to even have a chance to make the catch.
