Titans’ Ryan Stonehouse wants to be ‘the strongest, fastest, most-explosive punter’

After an impressive, record-breaking rookie season in the NFL, Tennessee Titans punter Ryan Stonehouse isn’t resting on his laurels.

The second-year punter, who annihilated an 82-year-old record for gross average yards per punt in 2022, has been hard at work in preparation for 2023.

Recently, the Titans gave us a glimpse into what Stonehouse does to get himself ready, and he spoke about what his goals are, all of which you can check out in the video below.

“I train because I want to be the strongest, fastest, most-explosive punter,” he said. “It’s always been a goal of mine just to be as quick-twitch, as explosive as possible. And that’s the reason I train; I always have a goal in mind when I’m training, and that’s just carried with me.”

“Lasting the entire season — the endurance of that — is so important, and the preparation you put in in the offseason,” he added. “It’s crazy how much that aspect can translate into the game and I feel like I’ve just put in a lot of work to the point where the preparation becomes even more important than the game.”

One could argue Stonehouse is already the “most-explosive punter” in the NFL after showing off his booming leg in 2022 that routinely unleashed field-flipping punts to bail out Tennessee’s putrid offense.

Now, the 24-year-old has to focus on his accuracy, especially when it comes to angling punts and trapping opponents deep in their own territory.

Stonehouse has already set the bar quite high for himself going into Year 2 after what we saw last season, but it’s clear he’s putting in the work necessary to raise that bar even higher.
