Timothée Chalamet’s new buzz cut has sent fans into meltdown after he debuted the dramatic new look.
The actor unveiled his bold shaved head while filming scenes for a new project in Manhattan’s Chinatown on Tuesday.
Dressed casually in a navy sweatshirt, denim jeans and a blue cap, the Dune star was later seen fully revealing the look during an Instagram Live to promote his upcoming A24 film Marty Supreme.
In the livestream, the 29-year-old appeared inside a clear box surrounded by orange ping-pong balls before dramatically removing a headpiece to show off his freshly shaven head.
The surreal video, part of the film’s marketing campaign, ended with the actor solemnly saying the title and release date: Christmas Day.
Chalamet, who has starred in Call Me By Your Name, Wonka and Little Women, has become known for his trademark tousled hair as much as his acting.
In light of his new ‘do, fans flocked to social media to share their thoughts.
“Almost doesn't look like him,” one penned on X while another joked, “Open Instagram and Timothée Chalamet is live and bald.”
A third quipped: “This haircut screams ‘I make playlists about feelings.’”
“He looks like he's about to drop the saddest indie album of the year,” another remarked.
A fan penned: “Glue the hair back on now.”
While another was more positive about his buzzcut, writing: “Oh timothee bald as hell and i'm here for it”.
“Me knowing that Timothee Chalamet has been bald for a min but it still being a shock now that he fully showed his head,” a surprised fan shared.
The American star has been keeping his shaved head under wraps for months, switching up his headgear to keep fans guessing.
At the New York Film Festival on October 6, he hid his buzzcut beneath a black baseball cap while posing for photos.
Earlier in the summer, he was seen wearing a green bandana while holidaying in Saint-Tropez with girlfriend Kylie Jenner, and later a camo cap pulled over with a hood at a Premier League match in London.
With Dune: Part Three reportedly beginning filming in July, according to Variety, it’s widely believed Chalamet shaved his head for the role.
