Timo Werner's permanent done deal will spark Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Chelsea transfer activity

Timo Werner's RB Leipzig return is 'almost done' as Chelsea could then turn to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to sort out transfer situation amid Kai Havertz and Armando Broja conundrum.

The Blues, who have spent money so far on defensive and attacking reinforcements, are set to continue a spending spree that could rise up to £300m amid strong rumours surrounding Wesley Fofana and Frenkie de Jong respectively. However, this figure will depend on what can be shafted out of the doors to balance numbers with the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Ross Barkley and other fringe players like Ruben Loftus-Cheek facing uncertain futures.

One certainty that has been common knowledge since the US tour is Werner's fixed mindset on wanting to leave the club and RB Leipzig seem to have beaten the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Juventus to the Blues number 11. This is because as per Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the Chelsea attacker is on the verge of re-joining his former club due to the 'positive' developments in the last few days. He goes on to add that a total agreement is expected next week for a deal that's likely to be a loan with an option to buy but that's not 100% certain just yet. This news was always just around the corner with the German international's exclusion from the squad for Everton hinting that an immediate exit was near.

Although Fabrizio Romano has gone on record to say his famous three words 'here we go' as well as clarifying that it will be a permanent transfer, although the figure for the sum of money the Red Bull-owned club will pay is still unknown currently.

With the 26-year-old heading out of the door with no one coming the other way in exchange amid a failed Josko Gvardiol attempt, new owner Todd Boehly will have to bring in a suitable replacement.

Will that player be Aubameyang? It is understood that Boehly has opened talks with the player's representatives and could soon accelerate those discussions in the forthcoming days once the Werner to Leipzig deal is official.

Despite his reluctance to directly comment on the situation, manager Tuchel hinted that he would be very open to the former Premier League Golden Boot winner reuniting with him in west London for this season.

“I would be interested in the 79 goals! We will not comment further," he replied in his pre-match Everton press conference on Friday afternoon. "There are a lot of names out there, sometimes due to the fact we discuss a lot of names but also sometimes pure speculation. We will not get involved.”
