Tim Legler sees new-look Celtics as championship favorites

After grinding out a 108-104 victory over the New York Knicks, ESPN’s Tim Legler is all-in on the Boston Celtics‘ chances of winning the 2024 NBA championship. Boston’s new-look roster made things difficult for themselves at times. However, Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday – both marquee summer additions – showed flashes of the elite upside they’re bringing to the table.

Boston’s top-six is arguably the most talented in the NBA. The Celtics have re-tooled their assistant coaching staff and now have one of the most experienced coaching benches in the league, too. Legler sees these additions as the missing pieces in a championship puzzle.

Legler pinpointed Porzignis’ offensive versatility and Holiday’s two-way skillset as key factors in the Celtics getting over the hump.

However, we also saw flashes of a Jayson Tatum post-game. And Jaylen Brown will figure out his new role in due course. Boston has plenty of time to work out any bugs. Once they do, they will be a terrifying proposition for opposing defenses. A championship is a realistic possibility.
