TikToker Jeff Kissubi Announces He Is Running For Government In 2028 Federal Election

TikToker and activist Jeff Kissubi has announced that he will run as an independant candidate in the next federal election.

Jeff, who has more than 219k followers on TikTok due to his social commentary and advocacy work, took to TikTok on Tuesday evening to announce his political ambitions.

“I’ve always made sure to use my voice against racism, injustice, discrimination and the problem of what our communities face,” he said.

“Something I’ve understood is that speaking is not enough. That’s why today I’m announcing that I will be running in the upcoming election as an Independent candidate.”

@blondejeff

For years I’ve used my voice to challenge racism, injustice and the ways politics often fails everyday people. But I’ve realised that speaking about it isn’t enough anymore it’s time to step into the arena. That’s why I will be running as an independent candidate in the next federal election. This campaign isn’t about party politics or chasing power. It’s about: • Real representation for diverse communities • A fair go for young people, migrants and working-class Australians • Listening to and respecting First Nations voices • Building a future that values care, equality and community over division I want to create a platform where voices that are usually pushed to the margins are heard in Parliament. This is the beginning of my journey, and I can’t do it alone. I’ll be sharing more soon on how you can be part of this movement and its new , daunting but I’m really excited cause it’s where I see change and having a real impact on getting things done. #IndependentCandidate #AusPol #RepresentationMatters #FairGo #YoungVoices

In a statement to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Jeff explained that the final straw in making him step into the political sphere was watching the March for Australia events unfold this weekend.

“For me, the turning point was realising that activism and speaking alone isn’t enough. I’ve spent years speaking out, creating conversations, and building community, but there’s only so much change you can make from the sidelines. The recent events that have transpired in the past couple of days have shown me how much our communities need leaders and representation that see them and their pain,” Jeff told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

“It’s been an idea in the making, but a calling I was always ready for, and I decided that if I truly believe in amplifying voices that are often ignored, then I need to bring that fight into the spaces where decisions are made, and it starts by standing up and on business. Running as an independent felt like the most authentic way to do that and resonates directly with the impact I want to make.”

Following the announcement, Jeff’s comment section was inundated with people ready to give him their vote.

“You need to run, mate. Your intentions are pure, your message is clear, and your Vision is PROFOUND 💯!!! As a father of biracial daughters, we need more leaders in government like you more than ever before 🔥,” commented one TikToker.

“You already have my vote,” said another.

“Brother, you would be the best candidate and a voice for the voiceless. You got my vote already!” wrote another.

He says the response has been “overwhelming”.

“I’ve received so many messages of encouragement, from people who feel like my run represents a bigger shift which is needed — especially as the political climate is uncertain,” Jeff explained.

“It’s also a reflection that politics can look different, sound different, and be driven by community rather than establishment and power.”

Jeff also noted that, along with the positive response, he’s also received criticism from “those who see a version of what they consider political influence and leaders”.

“I’m not here to serve that, but for the community and those directly impacted by policies and actions. I see that as a reminder of how necessary it is to challenge the status quo with new voices and new approaches to how politics is consumed and digested.”

While the 2028 election is a little while away, Jeff says that he has plans to make politics more “accountable and representative of everyday people”.

“That means pushing for policies that actually reflect the realities of young people, diverse communities, and marginalised voices, and working-class Australians,” the former model explains.

“More than anything, I want to break down the idea that politics is only for insiders. I want people to feel that Parliament is theirs too and that they have a say on what directly affects them, and bring in a new generation of how change is presented for Australians and our communities.”
